Polyquaternium-7 kozmetikte saç ve cilt için nemlendirici ve yumuşatıcı (conditioning agent) olarak kullanılır. Şampuan, saç kremi, duş jeli ve cilt bakım ürünlerinde yaygındır. Saçın dolaşmasını azaltır, yumuşak ve parlak bir görünüm sağlar, statik elektriği önlemeye yardımcı olur ve ürünün hissini iyileştirir. Önerilen oranlarda kullanıldığında güvenlidir. Kullanım oranı ürün tipine bağlı olarak genellikle %0.2 – %2 arasındadır. Formülasyonda su fazına eklenebilir veya ısıtma işlemi tamamlandıktan sonra ürün soğurken ilave edilir ve homojen dağılım sağlanana kadar iyice karıştırılır. Çoğu yağ, su ve emülsiyon sistemi ile uyumludur ve tavsiye edilen konsantrasyonlarda tahrişe neden olmaz.
